The GTAA Fire Training Centre is pleased to offer an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Awareness program. This one day program was designed for Municipal Fire Departments that have an airport within their jurisdiction. Historically 85% of all aircraft incidents occur within what is referred to as the Critical Rescue Fire Fighting Access Area (CRFFAA). The CRFFAA includes the runway and extends 1000m off each end. With the growth of our cities this area is now well within the boundaries of Municipal Fire Departments. The fact is that most airports rely upon municipal assistance, (Mutual Aid), in the event of a Major Emergency. Our one-day course gives the municipal Fire Fighter the basic knowledge and skills on how to deal with Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting should they called to assist with a major aircraft emergency. Offered in both official languages, and is outlined as follows: Theory instruction on Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, presented by certified Fire Service Instructors will include:

•Response procedures, hazards, positioning apparatus
•Fire control
•Rescue operations
•Fire extinguishment
•Interior fire fighting
•Introduction to Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles

In teams each trainee will fight the following Aircraft fires using hand line and hose-reel: engine fire, wheel fires, cockpit, galley, cabin and cargo fires. Each trainee is given the chance to be nozzle man on the hand line and hose-reel.

Each trainee will have the knowledge required to perform Aircraft Rescue Firefighting during an aircraft emergency. ARFF Vehicles as required by C.A.R.S regulations.
