The Basic Sprinkler Systems & Their Inspections course offered at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute has been developed by U.A. Local 853 Sprinkler Fitters of Ontario. The course is being delivered by experienced sprinkler fitters and inspectors bringing a diverse and knowledgeable background in the fire protection industry. This course is designed to educate and bring awareness to the participant being specific to the fundamentals and basic operation of wet and dry systems. Attention will also be given to the responsibilities and requirements for the inspection, testing and maintenance to help ensure the proper operation of these systems to avoid life or property loss. Knowledge and skills in this course are taught in a lecture style setting and reinforced during hands on practical training. A written test will be completed at the end of the course. NFPA 13-25 are available for sale after the course. Sprinkler system and inspection topics are outlined below:

•Principles of sprinklers
•Valves, alarms and devices
•Water supplies
•System care and maintenance
•Impairments, reports and repairs

Who should attend:
This course is designed for Building Owners, Property Managers, Fire Prevention Officers and Fire Officers.

This course is designed to give students the introduction to basic wet & dry sprinkler systems as well as to their inspection, testing and maintenance requirements. This course provides awareness to these systems and does not qualify individuals for installation and/or inspection, testing and maintenance on these systems. This course is an excellent fundamental for local AHJ’s, building/property management and in house maintenance staff.

Course Duration: 2 days, lunch included

Course Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
