Complexity and diversity in technical rescue continues to increase dramatically every year. New specialized equipment, procedures and regulations all place significantly greater demands on rescue personnel to possess greater numbers of increasingly complex skills. The 2008 edition of the 1006 standard is designed to manage these challenges by breaking down the required knowledge and skills for each technical rescue discipline into levels one and two. The course is designed to focus the foundation acquired in the technical rescuer course to the technical rope rescue discipline.
